OILY HORN
There used to be a natural treatment for seborrheic keratosis!
You know those skin growths that appears as a tan, brown, black, or yellow lesion with a waxy or rough texture that appear ‘stuck on’ our skin? seborrheic keratosis which just means in Latin:
Abnormal Oily Horn Growth.
Fun right?
A while back a relative of mine (who hates going to the doctor) asked me to help her remove them from her body.
They were in an uncomfortable location which caused irritation from her bra. I immediately came to the rescue with numbing cream and my scalpel. Not everyone has a relative willing to do this brave and exciting surgical procedure so how do we get rid of these. (She ended up loving what I did and had zero scarring!)
How do we get them?
The cause is unknown but linked to aging and sun exposure. They are not caused by poor hygiene.
The dermatologist can get rid of them but it is costly and not covered by insurance because it isn’t a medically necessary procedure.
Treatment options:
Freezing (cryotherapy): Liquid nitrogen is used to freeze and destroy the growth.
Scraping (curettage): A doctor numbs the area and scrapes or shaves the growth off with a scalpel. This is often used along with cryosurgery for thicker growths.
Burning (electrocautery): The doctor uses an electric current to burn the growth off, which can be done alone or with scraping.
There is a natural way to remove them.
A product was developed that doctors could use in the office called Escata. It was a little pen with a sponge tip and inside the pen was a chemical that caused very little discomfort. and caused the lesion to fall off within a few months. What was in the pen?
40% Hydrogen Peroxide
(The only place to buy this is online.)
For unknown reasons (but most likely because it is easier and faster to do cryotherapy and other methods) Eskata was abandoned as a treatment here in the US.
I just find it interesting - and thought I should pass on this knowledge to you.
